In the San Francisco Climate Emergency Resolution, the city called for “immediate and accelerated action to address the climate crisis” and resolved to “ensure a just transition for all people.” We can’t afford to delay either of those goals.
I ask that you finalize and recommend to the full board an all electric new construction ordinance with amendments to:
close the financial feasibility loophole. Feasibility should be determined without regard to financial, floor-area, or amenity-related loss.
safeguard the community from additional explosion risks and toxic side-effects of natural gas by scoping the Chinatown cultural heritage exemptions as narrowly as possible, and
include a commitment to real, genuine steps towards a just transition
